Disney Plus will have Avatar 3’s 9-hour cut

After the release of Avatar: The Way of Water last year in cinemas, James Cameron’s classic film series is back in the spotlight.

It was announced that the fourth and fifth installments of the series were going to be released shortly after the original film. However, who knows how long it will take to get there considering the 13 years gap between the first movie and The Way of Water. We’ll have to wait to see Avatar3, which, if the rumors prove true, will be huge.

Industry insider Jeff Sneider disclosed last December that he had heard that a nine-hour cut of Avatar3 was actually available. Cameron, meanwhile, reportedly wants it all fully VFX’d prior to being cut down. This story has taken a new turn and makes everything make more sense.

Dexerto reports on The hot Mic podcast. Sneider now suggests that the nine-hour cut will be available as a separate series to Disney+.

He stated that Cameron would create all of the visual effects for the nine-hour Avatar3 cut and release it on Disney+ as an exclusive series after the theatrical cut has been released.

John Rocha, co-host of the Hot Mic, admitted that he could see how this could work and compared it with the success of Zack Snyder’s Justice League. This was also released a few months after Justice League.

Sneider added: “This would be just another thing, in additional to ‘Here’s Avatar3 the theatrical cutting coming to Disney+ four months after release’, there’s also another thing they can offer their customers.”
